A exceptional and rare example of Guyon’s Trephine Perforator constructed of nickel over brass and with a turned and checkered ebony handle at the proximal end and a slotted trephine at the distal end covered by a sliding shield.  Through the center of this apparatus, runs an un-plated steel shaft, with a corkscrew tip at the distal end and a finely turned horn handle with four decorative ivory checkered inserts and four smooth horn inserts at the proximal end.  Despite its fine and elaborate construction suggestive of an exhibition instrument, it bares no manufacturers marking.
