A range of white metal syringes with wood plungers were offered in the 1888 Peter Van Schaack & Sons catalog.  Intended for human and veterinary purposes they came in a variety of sizes dependant on the intended use and with tips suitable for irrigation, vaginal, and rectal applications.  They were inexpensive ranging from one to thirty-six dollars per dozen dependant on size.
