This example is typical of the 19th century, one-piece forms, turned from hardwood, with decorative brass and steel rings, and were used for larger and stronger bottles. Such models were loaded with a compressed cork and then placed on top of the bottle neck, and the cork inserted by pushing down on the plunger.
