Aqua Menthae Piperitae or Peppermint Water is derived from the dried leaves or flowering tops containinga volatile oil, from which Menthol, a secondary alcohol is derived. Peppermint is an aromatic stimulant, also carminative (aromatic) and antispasmodic. It is used internally for the relief of nausea, colic and to dispel flatus. Topical applications were use for various neuralgie, sciatica, pleurodynia and toothache.
