During the early twentieth century a series of articles appeared in Collier’s, related to the “Great American Fraud” – that is, Nostrum Evil and Quackery. Afterwards, the American Medical Association continued the effort towards mitigating the baseless claims related to “patent medicines” and similarly, quack devices.
