Prepared by expression or distillation of the superficial-most rind of the fruit of the Citron Tree, thought to be the same species as Citrus medica (orange tree native to Asia) to yield an essential oil, which is much used for its fragrance and flavor to improve the agreeability of all manner of medicinal preparations.
