Aether Sulphuricus of the Pharmacopia of the U.S. 1842 was prepared from alcohol, sulfuric acid, potassa and water. It is a valuable inhaled anesthetic, antispasmodic, and is, externally, a refrigerant. A splendid example with a highly decorated, recessed, reverse-painted glass label on a standard square tincture shelf bottle.
