Tinctura Colchici Seminis is extracted form the seed of Colchicum autumnale or Meadow Saffron.  It contains and intensely bitter, poisonous alkaloid that serves as an emetic, diuretic, diaphoretic, a drastic purgative.  It is a specific palliative in acute gout when given with an alkali, and kept short of emet-catharsis.
