Tinctura Gentianae Composita or Compound Tincture of Gnetian is prepared as follows:  “take of Gentian, bruised, two ounces, Orange Peel an ounce;  Cardamom seeds, bruised, half an ounce;  diluted alcohol tow pints;  macerate for fourteen days, express, and filter throughpaper.”
