Tincture of Lavandula, Lavender, Lavandula vera and L. spica. are native to Southern Europe where it covers vast tracts of barren land. All parts of it are aromatic but the flowered spike provides the most potent fragrance and retains same long after drying and this virtue is easily extracted by alcohol and the oil by distilling with water.
