Owens Illinois introduced its Electrified Show Globe in 1931 and until about 1945, gave these to pharmacists who purchased sufficient numbers of their bottles. This show globe had an electric bulb within its spun metal base that illuminated the globe from below.  It was offered in 1 gallon and 2 gallon sizes and like most other globes it was intended to be filled with colored water.
