One of many similar devices intended to procure one or more drops of blood for the purpose of diagnostic phlebotomy.  The device functions is much the same manner as contemporary auto-lancets whereby the lancet is cocked by pulling back on the knob at the proximal end of a spring loaded shaft until the trigger device falls into place and secures the lancet in preparation for deployment.
