A.R. Simpson brought Scanzoni’s cephalotribe back to Britain in 1858 and gave it to his uncle, J.Y. Simpson, who used it, favored it and modified it with a slight pelvic curve.  Braxton Hicks described his own instrument which built on Simpson’s pattern but with a more robust and reversible screw and tips that turned inward to enhance grip.
