Baunscheidt’s “Lebeswecker” is a “counter -irritation” device employed as part of the medical system of “Baunscheidtismus” after its developer.  The instruments purpose is to introduce Baunscheidt’s Oil beneath the skin to raise blisters to relieve illness or infection by deliberately creating secondary inflammation on another part of the body.
