Beautifully executed prize-winning bronze bust of Ambroise Pare’ (1510-1590), the renowned 16th-century French surgeon showing Pare above a surgical saw and open book embellished with his famous motto – “Je le pansay, Dieu le guarit” – “I tended his wound; God cured him”. The bust is signed and in exceptional condition, signed with a beautiful patina.  Marble base is lacking.
