An exquisite and unusually refined Chinese Doctor’s Lady or Diagnostic Doll expertly carved from a single piece of elephant ivory. Condition is exceptional noting stable fine stress fractures and areas with a subtle and warm tea colored patina consistent with its age, VFC. Examination by an authority on Asian art at the Cleveland Art Museum suggest that this example dates to the eighteenth century based on the hair and fan styles.
