All manner of syringes were devised for irrigation essentially every body cavity and orifice.  Materials including, ivory, horn, pewter, white metal, glass, hard rubber and thermoplastics may be used in their construction and each has its individual merits.  Some designs have interchangeable tips to serve multiple purposes.
