Seiler’s Uvula Scissors, differs from those of ordinary construction in that one blade is bent at a right angle with the long axis of the instrument. This arrangement permits its use as a retractor to prevent the scissor from forcing the uvula from the grasp of the blades while the latter are being closed.  Also, two sets of claws that open and close with the blades, serve to prevent the excised fragment from dropping into the oropharynx and larynx.
