Directions:  Fill the bowl (enlarged proximal end). Lie on the back, enter the tube about one inch into the vagina, elevate the bowl so wash passes into the tube, move the tube in and almost out of the vagina for one to five minutes, then draw the tube nearly out, lower the bowl, and allow it thus to remain for a moment, so as to permit the wash, mingled with impurities, to return.  1869 Transactions of the Eclectic Medical Society of NY, Vol.3, 1869
