Eugene-Louis Doyen(1859-1916) was a French surgeon who studied medicine in Reims and Paris, and later opened a private institute in Paris that was popular with wealth clientele.  Doyen was an accomplished and innovative physician who introduced several surgical techniques, and medical instruments which bear his name.  His keen interest in photography and cinematography resulted in the production of numerous films of operations including craniotomy, hysterectomy and separation of conjoined twins united in the area of the xiphoid process.
