Olshausen’s Hysterectomy Pedicle Needle
Olshausen’s Hysterectomy Pedicle Needle
Transfixion Ligature Carriers differ from artery or aneurysm ligature carriers in being heavier, longer and were available in a greater variety of forms. Besides being useful in ligating aneurysms, the are employed for carrying ligatures around pedicles and masses and through the broad ligament in vaginal hysterectomy. They should be of sufficient strength to enable the operator to force them through broad stumps and other masses, where it is desirable that a ligature onlyencompass a given portion of the whole. They are preferred to needles by many operators, as their blunt point avoids injury to blood-vessels. 1899 Truax - 1100
