Pean’s Grand Curved Needle was intended for use with metallic sutures in cases involving uterine fibroid tumors and their morcellement whereby the tumor is divided and removed piecemeal. Accordingly, the needle was passed entirely traversing the tumor, the suture introduced in the fenestration, and the needle withdrawn carrying the suture along its path.
