Transfixion Ligature Carriers differ from artery or aneurysm ligature carriers in being heavier, longer and were available in a greater variety of forms.  Besides being useful in ligating aneurysms, the are employed for carrying ligatures around pedicles and masses and through the broad ligament in vaginal hysterectomy.  1899 Truax - 1100
