Elaborate Gyroscope Outfit, late 19th century, signed “Elliot Bros., 30 Strand, London”, made of bright lacquered brass with steel fittings, and standing 23 cm. on its weighted base and pillars stand.  The outfit includes the removable gyroscope assembly with various adjustment screws, a pointed balancing spindle, graduated cylindrical brass weights, pull-cord with wood handle, and original fitted mahogany case with working key.  All in good working order and VFC. The gyroscope demonstrates rotation, precession, and nutation of a spinning body, emulating Earth’s movements in space.
