“British Oil was readily prepared from petroleum, oil juniper, oil of terebinth (turpentine), oil amber, and linseed oil. Used externally for Rheumatic Pains and swellings.  Dose….For internal use 15 to 20 drops morning and night in White Wine or Ale.”  In the form of an enema, the oil has been employed in amenorrhea and to promote uterine contractions in childbirth.
