Perry Davis’ Painkiller was intended for use as an antiseptic and where warming might promote healing.  It was intended for use with a compress in cases of sore throat and croup and could be applied directly to sprains, bruises, chilibaines, stings, sore muscles, rheumatic pains, cuts and scratches.  The formulation contained:  alcohol, oil of spruce, oleoresin capsicum, camphor, guaiac and myrrh.  Manufactured and distributed by Davis and Lawrence of Hamilton, Canada.
