In 1878 Dr. S. Andral Kilmer established a small dispensary in Binghamton, New York and appended his name to a diverse line of proprietary medicines.  By 1895 eighteen different medicines were being made by the company and the most popular of all was Swamp Root. That continued to be sold until the company went out of business in the 1940’s.
