“Thomas Chambers Esq., Sutherland Street, London, S.W. showed his ‘Actual Cautery Parallel Clamp’, depicted in the accompanying woodcut (fig.143).  This clamp claimed advantages over its contemporaries including: simplicity of construction and ease of application and removal; perfectly even pressure applied along its entire length (this is not possible with a scissor-like action); it can accommodate a larger pedicle than any other clamp yet made.  Mr. Chambers and others have used it advantageously in cases of elongated cervix, omental hernia, castration, hemorrhoids, and vascular polypi. The instrument is made by Messers. Mayer & Co., Great Portland Street, London.
