The confederate states received support in the way of hospital and medical supplies from England to protect the latter’s interests related to a continued source of cotton to support London’s growing textile industry.
A potentially unique CSA Army set bearing a cartouche engraved as such and with the chain of possession documented into the late 19th C.  The identical set is illustrated in the 1879 Maw Catalog.
