Esmarch’s Drop Bottle consists of an amber flask for use in connection with a chloroform inhaler mask. The drop bottle cap employs two tubes passing through the stopper permit the entrance of air and the exit of chloroform.  The mouth of the tube is closed by a cap so that the chloroform vapor may not escape from the flask when not in use.
Esmarch’s Inhaler Mask consists of a simple wire frame shaped to fit the contour of the face around the mouth and nose.  Over this framework is stretched a woven fabric that permits the passage of air.  Chloroform was dropped upon the mask to perform anesthesia.
