Nelaton’s Bullet Probe consists of a plain flexible rod, with handle, to which is attached a roughened porcelain head of 5 to 10 mm. in diameter.  The porcelain, when rubbed against a leaden bullet, will leave a dark stain indicating the point of contact and thus discriminating between lead projectile and bone.
