Pierre Joseph Desault, 1744-1795, was a great French surgeon, one of the first professors at Ecole Pratique de Chirgurie, Paris.  He proposed many treatments of fractures and dislocations and is one of the founders of modern vascular surgery on account of his use of ligatures in the treatment of aneurisms.  Together with Francois Chopart. 1743-1795, hefounded urological surgery, and was among the first to have a clear understanding of urological disease.
