Public dissections were performed in operating theaters where attendees would stand in an operating amphitheater while dissections, both human and otherwise were carried out. Surrounding the observers were all manner of skeletons and taxidermy mounts. All in all, a clear reflection of Renaissance interest in the science of anatomy.
