Pontain’s Aspirator & Injector consists of a piston, terminating in a T-shaped head, supplied with two automatic valves, one the reverse of the other so that one admits fluid into the cylinder, the other will only permit its escape.  To the first is attached a rubber hose connected to a two-way tube passing through a cork fitted to a bottle.  To the second is attached tubing that ends in an aspirating needle or trocar.  Each tube is supplied with a stop-cock by which the flow two or from the bottle may be regulated and thus aspiration or injection accomplished.
