The Indianapolis Gynecological Chair provided a novel means for examining the patient in the seated, supine, dorsal lithotomy and Sims' - left lateral recumbent positions.  The platform of the table was equipped with a mechanism that readily allowed for incremental positioning of the patient starting from a seated position.
