Emmet’s Pessary for Retroflection differs from the pattern of Smith on account of its more blunt anterior margin.  In some ways, it may be said to be midway between the patterns of Smith and Hodge.  It is more robust in size, thus possessing a greater surface area and rendering it less liable to become embedded in soft tissues.
