Zwanck’s Uterine Pessary

The ivory lobes are hinged at the end of the stem, and are so arranged and constructed as to collapse while being introduced into the vagina; they open by means of an ivory thumb-screw so as to be thrust against the uterus. The fenestrated lobes permit easy discharge of any secretions. Later the device was distributed as Zwank’s Hysterophore by Tiemann, (1889, figure) 3474, and others.
