William Cheselden.  1688-1752.  “An outstanding figure in British surgery and lithotomy during the first half of the 18th C.  He abandoned suprapubic lithotomy in favor of the lateral operation in 1727.” (Morton 4282) and introduced a conductor, forceps and grooved catheter of his own design.
