Lithotomy forceps are employed to grasping and removing bladder calculi.  Typical late 19th C. forms terminate in short, broad, bowl-shaped blades with the concave surface supplied with small teeth to grasp the stone securely and with handles that are double-crossed, so that, in cases with a deep perineum, they may be used through a small opening.   Curved patterns are desirable in cases of encysted stones or those in the post-prostatic pouch.
