Tenaculum forceps were preferred by some operators over plain forms because they are less likely to slip, and being supplied with scissor pattern handles they are easier to hold and manipulate.  Designs were adapted for either intra or extra-uterine traction or both. A nice example of Byford’s form by Mayer & Meltzer, London, un-plated, FC.
