Alfred Meadows (1833-1887), described his new four valve speculum, made by Messrs. Mayer & Meltzer, in the Lancet London on Jan. 23, 1869 as a practically more convenient instrument than any other of its kind as its lateral blades are concealed by its anterior and posterior blades in the closed position. A splendid example of Alfred Meadows’ Vaginal Speculum, silver plated, unsigned, in EC.
