In 1845 James Henry Bennet, (1816-1881), published his textbook on inflammation of the uterus. This left a lasting impression on the profession and was the cause of considerable controversy.  Bennet maintained the inflammation was the primary uterine affection responsible for displacements, menstrual disturbances and leucorrhea. A fine example of Bennett’s form by Coxeter, London, FC.
