A splendid and rare example of Heurteloup’s Vaginal Speculum by Collin et Cie that incorporates a spring-steel ring about the proximal junction of the blades that when acted upon by closing of the handle, serves to open the blades. An ebony obturator is present and handles fold back for storage.  Like many, it was intended for examination of bot vagina and rectum.  EC.  Circa 1876
