William Morse Graily Hewitt, M.D.,  1828-1893, an eminent and respected British gynaecologist,  1865 appointed Professor of Midwifery and Obstetric Medicine at University College where he occupied the Chair of Midwifery for 22 years before resigning in 1887. Hewitt’s model is avariation on Weiss’ earlier design of Coxeter’s Bivalve Speculum.  A nice example, signed Weiss London, VFC.
