Leonard’s Dilating Uterine Douche overcomes the objection raised regarding earlier designs that did not permit an adequate egress of fluid.  In this model fluid is introduced into the uterine cavity by means of numerous perforations along the end of the device. Two wire-like expanding blades, controlled by means of a screw, may be expanded to occupy the full length of the uterine cavity and endocervical canal. Such an arrangement provides ample space for the egress of the irrigant.  - 1899 Truax - fig. 1185
