W.F. Ford’s version of the Russian Needle Holder is based one of the most widely-known patterns but with the superior handle foreshortened and thereby operated solely by ones thumb.  Like the original it is necessary to engage the lock by means of a deliberate movement of the operators thumb towards the proximal end.  GC.
