Collin’s cased set of Canulated Needles consists of six needles of various shapes that readily attach to a split shank which is drawn together by a sliding collar.  A silver suture passing through the needle and shankpasses beneath the milled edge of a small wheel situated upon a spring that it may be pressed down upon the wire.  The suture is fed through the needle by turning with the thumb.  Once the needle has been passed through the tissues to be sutured, the wire may be pushed through the needle canula, where it may be grasped and held, so that after withdrawal of the needle the wire will remain insitu.  Truax - fig. 775.
